Hi Adey,
Cant see that you can be refused planning permission because if your house is not listed or in a conservation area you don't need permission.
http://www.odpm.gov.uk/pub/915/Pl...idetoPPS22PDF2622Kb_id1143915.pdf
see page 150 -155
p153 especially point 18
Keep asking the questions... be a bit of a pain... and I'm sure you'll win through
let us know how you get on...

what he is saying is that it would not make the apperaance of the courtyard, be in keeping with the listed building opposite.
he is using a term that my barn is listed by association?
i have wrote to him quoting pps22 but he still is insistant that as he has taken all of my permitted development rights of the project, then the panels can not be located on the roof.
i have contacted my local councillor ,and i am writing a letter to my mp also.

What is the opinion of the residents of the listed building opposite and who owns and uses the courtyard?
Have you researched the term 'listed by association'?

yes i have researched listed by association, this falls under the curtlige of how close the old barn is tio mine, but ask a planner and you do not get a diffinative answer , the nearest i can get is in PPG15, 3.30-3.36.
the owner of the large barn to my knowledge is unaware of the proposal of solar panels to my roof, as he has still to start work on his barn?
i have got the local councillor on the case, and have sent a letter to my MP. hopefully it will push everyne allong.
thank yo for your advise,

just an update, i have recieved a letter from the planning officer, and i now have to file a formal planning application for his consideration. He is unwilling to grant me permission under the existing planning application.i feel that this is just a way of putting me off, however he will have several applications on thursday all showing different positions of panels , especially as i do not have to pay for the planning application. He has said he has no objection to the solar panels as long as they are not facing south!!!!!!!!!
